Mark Ruffalo Opens Up About the Future of a Hulk Movie: “Does Anyone Really Want Another One?”

Mark Ruffalo, the beloved actor behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) Hulk, recently shared his thoughts on the possibility of a standalone Hulk film, sparking excitement—and a bit of skepticism—among fans.

The Challenges of a Hulk Solo Film

In an interview with GQ, Ruffalo addressed the longstanding issue surrounding the character’s film rights. He explained:

“I don’t know if you know the story of that, but it’s not really owned by Marvel. It’s a Universal property. I don’t know if it’ll ever really come to be, honestly.”

This statement highlights one of the biggest hurdles in bringing Hulk back to the big screen: while Marvel Studios produces the character within the MCU, Universal still controls the distribution rights for solo Hulk movies. This legal complication has prevented a new standalone Hulk film from being produced for over a decade.

Open to Possibilities

Despite these challenges, Ruffalo expressed that he remains open to the idea of reprising the role in a solo film. He noted:

“We keep talking about it, what it would be. There’s been so many Hulk movies already, it’s like, does anyone really want another one? But I’d love one, and I do think the audiences would be into it if we could crack the nut of it.”

Ruffalo’s comments reflect a mix of cautious optimism and realism. While he acknowledges the difficulties, he also believes there is an appetite among fans for a fresh take on the iconic green superhero.

What This Means for the MCU

While there are no official announcements from Marvel Studios, Ruffalo’s willingness suggests that discussions about a Hulk-centered story may still be ongoing behind the scenes. With the MCU continually evolving, fans could see Bruce Banner/Hulk return in creative ways, whether in solo projects, team-ups, or crossover events.

For now, fans will have to wait and see if the elusive Hulk movie finally comes to life—but Ruffalo’s openness keeps hope alive.
