The Boys: Mexico Spinoff — What We Know So Far

Amazon Prime Video is expanding The Boys universe with a new spinoff set in Mexico. Titled The Boys: Mexico, the series promises a fresh perspective while maintaining the dark, satirical tone fans have come to expect from the franchise.

Development and Creative Team

The spinoff is being developed by Gareth Dunnet‑Alcocer, known for his work on Blue Beetle. Two of Mexico’s most prominent actors, Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna, are attached as executive producers — and are expected to appear on-screen as well. This adds major star power and a distinctly Mexican flair to the project.

Status Update

According to The Boys creator and showrunner Eric Kripke, the project is still in early stages. The pilot script is in development, and while progress is being made, Kripke stressed that the spinoff is “a while away” from production.

Kripke also emphasized that The Boys: Mexico will have a totally different tone than the original show. While it exists in the same universe, viewers won’t need prior knowledge of The Boys to enjoy it, allowing the spinoff to stand independently.

What Fans Can Expect

Spanish-language focus: The spinoff will highlight Mexico and incorporate its language and culture, broadening the franchise’s global reach.

Unique storytelling: While the series will explore superhero themes and corporate corruption, it will do so through a lens distinct from the original show.
New characters and world-building: The cast is still being finalized, but Kripke promises that The Boys: Mexico will introduce compelling new heroes, antiheroes, and villains.

Unknowns

Many details are still under wraps:

Official premiere date has not been announced.
Full plotlines and casting information remain confidential.
Connections to the original The Boys series and other spinoffs are being carefully defined to maintain the new series’ independence.

The Bigger Picture

The Boys: Mexico reflects Amazon’s push to expand its superhero franchises globally while exploring diverse stories and perspectives. With a talented creative team and a commitment to a fresh approach, the spinoff has the potential to become a major addition to the Boys universe.

While fans will have to wait for more concrete updates, the series is shaping up to offer a bold, exciting, and distinctly Mexican chapter in the world of The Boys.
