Emma Stone Opens Up About Andrew Garfield Lying Regarding Spider-Man: No Way Home

Emma Stone recently shared her surprise and amusement over her ex-boyfriend Andrew Garfield keeping his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home a secret—even from her. Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Stone revealed that she directly asked Garfield if he would appear in the film.

“I asked him and he was like, ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about,’” Stone recalled.

At the time, she assumed this meant he wasn’t involved. However, she later learned that Garfield had indeed reprised his role as Spider-Man alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland, much to the delight of fans worldwide.

Respecting the Secret

Despite her initial shock, Stone expressed admiration for Garfield’s ability to maintain the secrecy. She described his approach as “honorable,” noting that keeping such a significant detail under wraps demonstrates his dedication to preserving the film’s surprise element for audiences.

“He kept it really close to the vest,” she said, highlighting the lengths actors and studios go to ensure plot details remain confidential.

Not Yet Seen the Film

Interestingly, Stone admitted that she has not yet watched Spider-Man: No Way Home. She has, however, heard positive reviews, particularly regarding the emotional scenes featuring Garfield’s character, and plans to watch the film eventually, anticipating an emotional experience.

A Look Back at Their Relationship

Stone and Garfield met on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012 and dated until 2015. Despite their breakup, the two have maintained a cordial and supportive relationship. Stone is now married to comedian Dave McCary, and the couple has a daughter together.

A Nostalgic Moment for Fans

Garfield’s secretive approach paid off, as his unexpected return in the film added nostalgia and depth to the story. For fans of the Spider-Man franchise, the surprise cameo was a memorable moment, showing the enduring connection between actors, their characters, and their audience.
